Confirmation Novena

Click the following link to pray the Novena to the Holy Spirit for our Confirmation Candidates. The Novena prayer leading up to the Confirmation celebration begins November 4th. Confirmation is November 13.

Items Due

Confirmation, November 13, at 5:45.
Candidates and Students should be in the Parish Hall by 5:15 at the lastest!

Rehearsal Night Events, NOVEMBER 11:
Rehearsal Dinner at 5:00 at Holy Family. Reservations for families and sponsors must be made by calling Holy Family (829-3295) by November 6th, Friday. Monday at the very latest possibly.
Rehearsal for Candidates and Sponsors begins at 6:30pm in the Church of the Holy Family.

Permission Slips and Retreat Fee due Oct 17th.
Permission slips will be mailed. Candidates need to return these.

Class Letter due October 17.
Candidates will work cooperatively during class Oct. 3.

Letter to the Bishop due October 3.
Candidates are to request their wanting to be confirmed and introduce themselves to Bishop Cunningham.
Sponsors are to discuss with candidate the reasons for being confirmed and to proofread the letter.

Saint Reports due September 12.
Candidates are to choose a name and research it.
Sponsors are to discuss their confirmation name with candidate and read/discuss candidates choice.

Sponsor Certificates Due June 25th
Sponsors from parishes other than St. Helena's need to send a sponsor's certificate from their own parish.

Message for Youth

In a "Message to Youth", the bishops of United States expressed their esteem and respect for young people in whom they "see the face of God". Calling on young people to recognize their own value, the bishops said, "You are made in the image and likeness of God. You are loved by God and others!"

Out of this great love, in which you will soon be confirmed by the Holy Spirit, comes action. Here are seven actions the Church asks young people to undertake as witness to Christ:

• work for justice
• treat others with respect
• share your time and talents
• be a healer when conflict arises
• help friends do the right thing
• befriend youth who are lonely
• value those who are different

The bishops added, "We're not saying it will be easy. You may be misunderstood and even ridiculed at times but you will never be alone. Christ and the Christian community walk with you."
